Automation Enginner for exciting consultant assignment
We are looking for an experienced and business-oriented Automation Engineer to join A-hub as a consultant, working on assignment at a well-known global industrial company specializing in advanced energy solutions and high-reliability manufacturing. In this role, you will contribute to the development of high-performance cooling systems for power electronics and other critical applications, ensuring safe and reliable operation with a strong focus on quality and customer requirements.
As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for developing automation solutions in delivery projects and act as a key point of contact between electrical design, mechanical engineering, and customer demands. You will design and configure control systems, user interfaces, and documentation, as well as carry out testing both in-house and on-site. Your technical expertise and problem-solving skills will be vital in delivering robust and customized automation solutions.
You will be part of a committed electrical and automation team, working across both project delivery and system development – with hands-on engagement in testing environments and the opportunity to grow within a global technology context.
Main Responsibilities
Create automation documentation for delivery projects, including function descriptions, test protocols, and HMI design.
Ensure products meet customer specifications through bench testing, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
Program and configure control systems (PLC/DCS/RTU/IPC), HMIs, and industrial networks.
Participate in the selection of components and contribute to long-term technical improvements.
Provide aftermarket technical support and troubleshooting for delivered projects.
Actively support process and workflow improvements within the automation domain.
Perform hands-on work in automation cabinets and support system testing in the factory.
Travel for commissioning, supplier visits, and on-site support as needed.
Common environments include ABB AC500, Siemens S1200/S1500, Beckhoff TwinCAT, B&R Automation, Mitsubishi, and more.
Previous Experience and Competencies
At least 3 years of experience in automation within industries such as machinery manufacturing, process industry, or water treatment, including at least 1 year in project-based delivery.
Post-secondary education in automation, electrical engineering, or a related technical field.
Strong knowledge of IEC 61131-3 programming languages and tools such as Codesys, TwinCAT, GX Works3, and Siemens TIA Portal.
Experience working both theoretically and practically with automation solutions – preferably in a workshop or test environment.
Fluent in Swedish and technical English, both written and spoken.
A structured, proactive, and collaborative mindset with a strong sense of ownership.
