Our client is expanding their team in Ludvika and is looking for talented individuals to join their global organization working with the electrical design and development of semiconducting HVDC and SVC valves — key technologies enabling reliable HVDC power transmission and supporting AC system stability.
About:
The Electrical Valve Design department in Ludvika is globally responsible for the electrical design and requirements of semiconductor-based HVDC and SVC valves. The department also designs digital optical current-measuring instruments developed specifically for HVDC applications.
You will be part of a global engineering environment, collaborating closely with electrical design teams in other countries. The department handles both project deliveries and product development, including new valve solutions, life-cycle management, and technical support for upgrades and service projects.
As an Electrical Valve Design engineer in this team, your responsibilities will include:
- Develop project and tender design documents for HVDC and FACTS applications
- Review customer specifications and Identify risks, deviations and opportunities
- Perform calculations to assess electrical stress, thermal and losses.
- Define control and protection requirements for the valve
- Perform semiconductor valve simulations and analyze the results
- Define test requirements in accordance with both internal and external standards
- Perform the failure investigation and ensure the safety in design
- Lead design review meetings, technical forums and customer trainings
- Be a team player and collaborate with other teams
Requirements:
- You have either a Bachelor of Science or a Master of Science in Power Engineering,
- Electronics, Engineering Physics or equivalent.
- Previous work experience in similar fields is preferable
- You have good knowledge of engineering tools such as PSCAD, Matlab and Mathcad.
- Strong communication skills and fluency in English is required, and Swedish is highly valued.
Experiences aside, the most important aspect is your positive attitude and passion for electrical & electronics engineering.
